Yes, if you do not hold a Nigerian passport, you will generally need a visa to enter Lagos. The ECOWAS Exception: If you hold a passport from a West African ECOWAS country (e.g., Ghana, Senegal, Benin), you can enter visa-free.All Other Passports (US, UK, Europe, etc.): You must obtain an e-Visa online before you travel through the official Nigeria Immigration Service Portal. You cannot get a standard tourist visa upon arrival at the airport in Lagos (Murtala Muhammed International Airport). Please apply at least 4–6 weeks before the wedding to ensure your digital e-Visa slip is approved in time. You will also need a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate to pass through airport border control.
We recommend booking your flights as early as possible to secure the best rates. The nearest airport is Murtala Muhammed Airport, MMA, Lagos.

Lagos has a tropical climate that is warm all year round. If you are joining us in November, it is the transition period into the dry season. Expect hot days with an average high of 33°C (91°F) and balmy evenings around 24°C (75°F).
Your safety and seamless entry are our top priorities, especially in a bustling city like Lagos. If you lose your wedding venue access pass, do not panic! Please inform the security team at the main entrance gate. They will verify your identity against our official guest list and guide you safely inside.
For getting around Lagos, we recommend using Uber or Bolt. Both are convenient and can be requested directly through their apps. Uber is especially easy for visitors because you can arrange your ride and pay through the app. Also, Lagos traffic can be unpredictable, so journey times can vary significantly depending on the time of day. We recommend allowing extra time when travelling to the wedding and other events. For airport transfers or longer journeys, you can also arrange a private driver or taxi in advance. Let us know if you need help with this. We recommend avoiding driving yourself, as Lagos traffic can be quite unpredictable.Tip: Make sure you have mobile data as soon as you arrive so you can access your ride-hailing apps, maps and WhatsApp.
We are throwing out the old rulebook! For our wedding, the official dress code is "Outshine the Celebrants."
We highly recommend getting an eSIM before travelling to Nigeria so you have internet as soon as you land. It will make it much easier to use Uber/Bolt, Google Maps and WhatsApp.International eSIM providers such as Airalo, Holafly or Nomad offer Nigeria data plans that you can purchase and install before your trip.If your phone supports eSIM, you can keep your regular SIM active for calls and messages while using the Nigerian eSIM for mobile data.Tip: Install your eSIM before leaving home, but activate it when you arrive in Nigeria. This way, you’re connected from the moment you land.
Yes, we recommend carrying some Nigerian Naira (₦) in cash, especially for small purchases, tips, markets and places where card payments may not be available. Most hotels, restaurants and larger businesses accept Visa or Mastercard, and you can also use your card for many everyday expenses. However, it’s always a good idea to have some cash on hand just in case.Tip: We recommend exchanging or withdrawing money through reputable banks, ATMs or exchange providers rather than carrying large amounts of cash.
Nigeria generally uses Type G plugs, the same three-pin plug used in the UK. If you are travelling from Europe, the US or another country with a different plug type, bring a suitable travel adapter.
Since our wedding celebrations will take place in Victoria Island (VI) and Lekki, we recommend staying in either Victoria Island, Ikoyi or Lekki.Victoria Island is a great option if you want to be close to the wedding venues and enjoy easy access to restaurants, cafés, shopping and nightlife.Lekki is another excellent option, particularly if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere and want to be close to some of the wedding events.Ikoyi is a great middle ground, offering beautiful hotels and easy access to both Victoria Island and Lekki.Lagos traffic can be unpredictable, so we strongly recommend choosing accommodation close to the wedding venues rather than staying far away.
